I have always spoken quite openly about my chronic illness, Lyme disease, on this channel, but what you might not know, is that I also speak a lot about this on my Youtube channel! I recently made a video talking about unexpected ways my chronic illness changed me and thought I would share it on here, in case you hadn't seen it yet.
If you struggle with chronic illness, let me know if you found any of these relatable!
Having curly hair can be such a struggle sometimes. I spent years and years throwing my hair back into a messy ponytail because I simply had no clue what to do with it. I even felt self-conscious about my hair and ended up doing all I could think of to make it look 'normal'. I couldn't brush it like all my friends. In fact, I couldn't really wear it down at ALL!
Well, okay, I COULD have worn it down... but I didn't like it down. It would go all frizzy and poofy and get all up in my face. But I really couldn't brush it. Put a brush to my head and I will go from women to lion in the space of 2 minutes. It is almost impressive. Anyway, I digress, having curly hair isn't easy. There are so many different types of curls and it's really all about finding what works for you and your hair.
Personally, it has taken some time (about 19 years to be exact), but I think I have found a way of styling my hair that makes me feel confident and beautiful and fierce and all that other good stuff. To me, that is what all this fashion and beauty stuff is about. Feeling confident and beautiful and fierce. It's about accepting yourself for what you are and reflecting that in whatever way you like. For me, my hair is a big part of that right now. So, without further ado, here is my current hair routine for naturally curly hair!
Chronic illness is known to be illness lasting 3 months or longer. For many, having something as simple as a common cold can take a toll on them, affecting their entire week. So you can only imagine how chronic illness lasting over 3 months, for many years or even their lifetime, can take such a toll on someone. It becomes much more than the physical pain and struggles, although trust me they're no walk in the park, but it becomes very mentally challenging too.
You're faced with the frustration of your body not healing itself. Then the frustration of doctors being unable to heal you. Then the frustration of the illness stealing your life from you. The list of frustrations and mental struggles goes on for miles, alongside with the fact that anxiety, depression e.t.c is often a symptom of chronic illness too.
Being the bookworm I am, I am always on the hunt for new books to read. Therefore, I thought that today I would share with you all my top 4 books that I read last year. Although I will read practically any book, the 'young adult' genre is my favourite, so unsurprisingly my top 4 are YA.
