Everybody needs some yellow sandals.

As mentioned in a previous post, I am transferring my blog posts from the last year (they were on a different site) so here is number 6 of 9! Enjoy!

As much as I love shoes, I'm usually the 'play it safe' kind of girl. For example, on my 17th birthday I got these really cute ankle boots... which I then went on to wear almost every day (every.single.day) for the next year and a half. I find a cute pair of shoes and then kind of forget about all the others I own until that pair breaks. It's not a good situation. So, that being said this year I have been trying to wear more than one pair of shoes, as well as looking into new styles and using shoes to add a pop of colour to an outfit (a trend that I am a big fan of by the way!) And then these came along.

In all honesty, I don't think I would have purchased these shoes if I came across them in the shop. Mainly because they were a little out my fashion comfort zone, but also because of the stretchy back which isn't really a style I wear in shoes. However, it was actually my Grandma who gave these to me! My Grandma has style. She actually got these for herself then gave them to be because they didn't fit her. Like I said, my Grandma has style. I honestly think these are the perfect summer sandal. In fact, I plan on wearing these to my Grandmas birthday party.

Not only do I love the colour and style, but they are so comfy and the stretchy back (which I wasn't too fond of at first) makes them super easy to slip on and off. All in all, I'd say these shoes are a win! I believe these were £19.50 from M&S for anybody interested.

Rainy Day Games.

Last Tuesday (I think) it was a very wet and grey day in England. Despite the fact that it is summer, we have been getting more than our fair share of rainy weather, not to mention the lack of heat. But despite this not so summery summer, we (being my brother and me) are on our school summer holidays. For me, this means I have extra time to blog and focus on other projects such as the redecoration of my room. However, my brother has fallen into the trap of video games. Now there is nothing wrong with video games from time to time. But I personally believe that it is not the most valuable way to spend your time if playing too often. With this in mind, I decided to give myself the task of entertaining my 10-year-old brother for this rainy afternoon, in an attempt to give him a slightly more stimulating and memorable summer. Overall, I think it was a success and thought I would share some pictures I snapped throughout the afternoon.

First of all, we decided to play some good old board games. We played a couple including Cluedo and some dice game (the one where you roll two dice and try get all the numbers down??). We had a good laugh and it was nice to see him enjoying something besides a video game.

A little later, once he was fed up with the games, we decided to bake some chocolate muffins. I thought this would be a good idea because not only would it teach him a little about cooking, but we could enjoy what we had made later on. Plus, children love getting messy!

It proved a little harder than I had anticipated to separate him from the game, but with a little perseverance, we did it. 

One of Alfie's favourite parts of the baking appeared to be the cleaning... as long as he could eat it!

Here is our final result. The baking was a success and the muffins were delicious! They were perfectly moist on the inside and the chocolate chunks were a great idea. 

We even managed to snap a silly little selfie. Overall I think it was a successful afternoon that we both enjoyed. I think it is very important to make time to do things together and make the most of the free time. I wanted Alfie to look back on the summer and all of the fun activities and days that we had, not just a video game. 

I would be interested to hear of any other rainy day ideas, as we do seem to get an awful lot of them over here in England.

Not so summery summer walks.

Hello and happy hump day! Fun fact: it wasn't until a year or 2 ago that I realised that hump day actually meant the middle of the working week and NOT a slightly saucy day. Mean girls makes way more sense now. 

Anyway, on with today's post. So this time last week we had some family friends down for the day and decided to go for a lovely walk at Westonbirt Arboretum. I have mentioned this place a couple of times in previous posts, but basically, the Arboretum is pretty close to where I live so we often take advantage of this and go on walks. However, British weather being as unreliable as it is, decided that despite it being summer, it was going to be rainy and a little chilly too. Typical.

However, we still had a lovely day and I enjoyed every minute of it. I took numerous amounts of pictures on our walk, with such photogenic surroundings its hard not to, and thought I would share some of my favourites for today's post.

We found these BEAUTIFUL flowers that I loved. Look how nice they are! Definitely made me feel all summery, despite the weather.

I am not entirely sure what this plant is but it looks pretty cool.

My phone was full of photographs like this because it is just such a beautiful place. Despite my numerous attempts, it was practically impossible to fully capture how gorgeous this place is.

On this particular day, they were doing a little family trail things that we took part in. It was a great idea to entertain the children (and the slightly older children like myself) and helped to give them some extra knowledge too with the quiz!

At the start of the trail, you got given a worksheet and a pencil. On one side of the sheet, there was a map that told you where the quiz answers were and little pictures that you had to find along the trail and tick off. There were little pictures (like shown above) that we had to keep an eye out for along our trail.

On the other side of the sheet, there was the quiz. There were about 9 questions in total to answer. Around the trail, there were bigger signs attached to the trees that gave you some information about trees. You then had to use this information to answer the given question. I thought this was a great idea to help the children gain more knowledge in a fun and entertaining way! The trail was aimed at children but I personally loved it!

I am not entirely sure what I am doing here but I thought it was too funny not to include. I think it's the serious face that makes me laugh.

Here is my outfit that I wore for our walk. I wore my boyfriend jeans, stripey top, raincoat and trainers. It was a very comfy and practical outfit and I don't think it looked too bad at all.

Some of the trees were different colours which reminded me of Autumn! The arboretum is a great place to go in the autumn with all of the gorgeous colours.

We finished off our walk with a yummy hot chocolate from the cafe. Not your typical summer drink eh?

Summer BBQ's and oreo smores!

Now this post is a little delayed as this BBQ was actually about a month ago but I still wanted to share it. 

So this was around the time that England got pretty hot, so of course we wanted to make the most of it and had a little family BBQ. It was a really lovely evening full of DIY lemonade, oreo smores and lots of laughter. Therefore, I thought I would share a few snaps from the evening.

I decided to wear my floral maxi dress from Forever21 (from my NYC trip actually) with some very messy hair and no makeup this time.

Summer Outfit Inspiration

 I went on a little shopping spree last weekend and purchased a few Primark items, Instead of doing an ordinary clothing haul, I thought I would attempt a slightly different style by dedicating a blog post to each item, showing you how I would incorporate the item 

into an outfit.

So, number 1 in these mini-series is this very simple, off the shoulder top. When I first came across this top I loved it, partially due to the fact that it reminded me of 'Grease' and partially because I love the whole 'off the shoulder' kind of style. However, I wasn't too sure about buying it as it is pretty clingy meaning it would show all of the not so slim parts of my body. Yet when I looked at the price and it was only £3 I thought 'oh screw it. I want to be Sandy from Grease!' and went ahead and threw it into my basket. 

In terms of an outfit, this is what I threw together. This is just one of the many outfits that could be created with this top but I thought it looked pretty cute. I paired this top with my creamy coloured pleated skirt from H&M and my little boots and necklace from Primark as well. 

I feel that this outfit would be great for a summer evening in particular and although the outfit doesn't feature an array of colours (something commonly seen in summer outfits), through adding a bright nail polish or even lipstick you could definitely brighten up this outfit.

Spring into Summer - OOTD

Having finally got my exams out of the way, I can now start to relax a little more. Today, with the weather being pretty decent I popped into town with my friend for a couple of hours. We did the usual browsing sesh with a hefty amount of giggles too. We both picked up some goodies, as well as having a good catch up!

Later on in the evening I then went on to play some ball games in the garden with my brother and sister. It was just one of those lovely spring into summer days that create lovely memories. So, of course, as a result, I wanted to share my outfit. I found this outfit very comfortable as well as suitable for the weather. Living in Britain, the weather is very unpredictable and not all that hot but this outfit was perfect for the day!

Start of summer with the squad.

As spring begins to fade and summer starts (although you wouldn't believe it with this British weather lately) there are more and more opportunities to create memories, and what better way to do this than with friends. 

Having a week off from exams, (most of) the girls and I decided to spend the day together at Corsham Court. We each prepared some food and set off for the day with our picnic bag and blanket. Now, since none of us can yet drive, we decided to walk. This took a little longer than we had previously thought but was a lot of fun and full of hilarious memories.

The entire day was so much fun and packed full of hilarious moments that won't soon be forgotten. We chatted and laughed and played games (getting a little competitive) the entire time and it was fabulous. The perfect break from our exam stress. These few pictures are from our walk to the Court.

Overall, we all had a fabulous day and can add this day to our many memories together.

Mini 'Spring Nail Polish' Haul

Yesterday, after weeks of saving, I finally managed to go shopping. Now I wouldn't say that I am all too materialistic but a bit of retail therapy was definitely needed, so that is what I did. 

As I was pondering around Superdrug I came across the vast range of pastel nail polishes, one of my favourite things about Spring. So, of course, I had to buy some. I decided to go with 1 Barry M polish, as well as 2 Rimmel Rita Ora Polishes. 

After many minutes of indecisive debate with myself, I went for the Barry M Quick try polish in 'Full Throttle'. The entire 'quick dry' range was full of beautiful pastel colours that I fell in love with immediately, However, considering I was yet to own an orange polish, I went for this one. Not only is the colour amazing, but the 'quick dry' effect was just an added bonus. I am terrible at waiting for my nails to dry so hopefully, this polish will help.

It was then, that I stumbled upon the Rimmel London section. I had previously purchased a white polish from the Rita Ora brand but never really looked at anymore, yet when I lay my eyes upon the array of pastel shades, I was sold. Again, after many more minutes of indecisive debate with myself, I decided on 2 shades. Firstly, this gorgeous pastel yellow shade 'Daisy Days' (I LOVE this name!). Yellow is such a summery colour and this pastel shade made it perfect for spring. My last polish was called 'Rain Rain go Away', again another stunning pastel shade.

I love buying and wearing new nail polish, and these shades make me so excited for the upcoming seasons!

Goodbye Summer

We are almost two weeks into September and as the temperature drops and the leaves begin to fall from the trees, it has become evident that summer has left. Despite how much I love summer, I am also so excited for Autumn to begin. Autumn brings cosy blankets, autumn walks and lots of tea! My favourite. Yet my absolute favourite thing about Autumn is the autumn candles, by far. So as the summer comes to an end, I thought I would look back to my summer and share just a few of my favourite pictures from my summer with you.
