Awkward English Weather

I can't believe it is October already! That panics me because it means there are only 2 months left this year and that is terrifying. However, that also means that we are officially fully into the swing of autumn and that is pretty damn fabulous. It's no secret that I love the Autumn. I love the tea, the crunchy leaves, and fluffy blankets. I love it all! However, I always forget about that awkward transitioning stage in between summer and autumn. Now, of course, England seems to attract all things awkward in terms of weather and this is no exception.

I am talking about the 'freezing in the morning and hot later on' kind of thing. For example, the other day when I woke for school it was 7 degrees Celsius (i.e- cold!). Yet by the afternoon it had over doubled and was 15 degrees (not particularly hot but quite the difference). So naturally in the cold morning, you layer up. Add your thick sweater, a coat and maybe even a scarf. Yet by noon you're sweating profusely. It is not a good look!

Now this is pretty annoying and makes choosing an outfit even harder than usual. However, despite my annoyance, I still love autumn and am super excited for the next couple of months!

Thanks for reading and have a lovely weekend.

Does anybody else have this struggle or is it just me?

Rainy Day Games.

Last Tuesday (I think) it was a very wet and grey day in England. Despite the fact that it is summer, we have been getting more than our fair share of rainy weather, not to mention the lack of heat. But despite this not so summery summer, we (being my brother and me) are on our school summer holidays. For me, this means I have extra time to blog and focus on other projects such as the redecoration of my room. However, my brother has fallen into the trap of video games. Now there is nothing wrong with video games from time to time. But I personally believe that it is not the most valuable way to spend your time if playing too often. With this in mind, I decided to give myself the task of entertaining my 10-year-old brother for this rainy afternoon, in an attempt to give him a slightly more stimulating and memorable summer. Overall, I think it was a success and thought I would share some pictures I snapped throughout the afternoon.

First of all, we decided to play some good old board games. We played a couple including Cluedo and some dice game (the one where you roll two dice and try get all the numbers down??). We had a good laugh and it was nice to see him enjoying something besides a video game.

A little later, once he was fed up with the games, we decided to bake some chocolate muffins. I thought this would be a good idea because not only would it teach him a little about cooking, but we could enjoy what we had made later on. Plus, children love getting messy!

It proved a little harder than I had anticipated to separate him from the game, but with a little perseverance, we did it.

One of Alfie's favourite parts of the baking appeared to be the cleaning... as long as he could eat it!

Here is our final result. The baking was a success and the muffins were delicious! They were perfectly moist on the inside and the chocolate chunks were a great idea.

We even managed to snap a silly little selfie. Overall I think it was a successful afternoon that we both enjoyed. I think it is very important to make time to do things together and make the most of the free time. I wanted Alfie to look back on the summer and all of the fun activities and days that we had, not just a video game.

I would be interested to hear of any other rainy day ideas, as we do seem to get an awful lot of them over here in England.

Thanks for reading and have a lovely weekend.

Family walks

The other day my brother, mum and I all went for a little walk up Cherill Hill. It was a little chilly due to the wind but the sun was occasionally peeping through the clouds and so we decided to make the most of the decent weather (Typical British weather being unpredictable). We took a little kite and had a lovely time walking up the hill. Unfortunately, we didn't make it to the top for a couple of reasons. Firstly, we didn't have much time as we had other plans later on. However, the other and the probably bigger reason for this was due to the fact that my mum is terrified of cows! (due to a very unfortunate cow chasing incident). There were a nice little group of cows chilling at the top and so we decided not to go all the way to the top this time. However, it's little things like this that make life so special and I couldn't help but share.

I love going on walks and who better to do so with than family.

Autumn OOTD

Today I thought I would share my OOTD. As autumn has hit I have really enjoyed starting to layer up my clothes. I am somebody who really does feel the cold and I can't stand it, so layering up is compulsory as the months get colder. This outfit makes me feel very autumnal and so I have decided to share it with you.

As a base, I wore a simple white strappy top. Then on top of that, I wore my white 3/4 sleeved collared top from Primark. As this top is rather thin I then added my navy hooded jacket from new look, followed by my khaki coat from Asos (which I love an awful lot). To top off the look I added my tartan style scarf from Scotland.

I also wore my red high waisted jeans from new look and paired them with my brown boots from next.

I then did a quick side braid with my hair to keep it out the way on a windy day. Then I just did minimal makeup.

This is just one of my outfits that I love for the Autumn time.

Thanks for reading,
